Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Loquus (the "App"), provided by Loquus ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Loquus, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
The App
Loquus is a language-learning app. It runs on your device with no account system, and your learning data stays locally on your device. If you voluntarily submit an issue report, we use a limited Apple-managed CloudKit support inbox to receive and investigate it. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is and isn't collected.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Loquus on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial language learning. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, redistribute, or create derivative works from the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction.
Free access and Loquus Plus
Every language and standard course lessons in Loquus are available without payment. Free use is currently subject to a limit of 3 lesson starts per day; this limit, and any other aspect of what is included in free use, may change over time. Loquus Plus is an optional, auto-renewing subscription that removes the daily limit and unlocks additional features (currently the Arcade mini-games, end-of-section review lessons, and capstone lessons). What is included in Loquus Plus may also change over time; we will not remove access to something you've already paid for during a period you've already paid for.
Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Loquus Plus is offered in the following auto-renewing terms. Exact current pricing is shown in the App and on the App Store before you subscribe.

- Where offered, a free trial period is stated in the App before you start it. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and you're charged the listed price.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, and the subscription automatically renews at the end of each period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device's Settings app, under your Apple ID, Subscriptions. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
- All billing is handled by Apple. We do not process payments ourselves and do not have access to your payment details. Refund requests are handled by Apple under their own policies.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Loquus to do anything unlawful, to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the App, or to attempt to circumvent any limits on free use or any purchase mechanism.
Content and educational purpose
Loquus's lessons are provided for general language-learning purposes. We aim for accuracy but do not guarantee that every translation, pronunciation, or grammatical explanation is error-free. Loquus is not a substitute for professional language certification, translation, or interpretation services, and completing lessons does not constitute any formal qualification.
Intellectual property
The App, including its curriculum content, design, and code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of the App to you.
Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may suspend or terminate your ability to use the App if you violate these Terms.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
